Señor, permíteme que sufra mucho
y luego muera.
Que camine a lo largo del silencio
y nada quede de mí, ni siquiera el miedo.
Deja que el mundo siga,
que el océano continúe besando a la arena, como siempre.
Que el pasto siga siendo verde
para que las ranas se oculten en él
y cualquiera pueda sumergir el rostro entre sus hojas
para llorar su amor.
Haz que el día se levante, luminoso,
como si no existiera ya el dolor.
Y que mi poema sea transparente, como la ventana
en la que estrella su cabeza el abejorro.

Lord let me suffer much
and then die
Let me walk through silence
and leave nothing behind not even fear
Make the world continue
let the ocean kiss the sand just as before
Let the grass stay green
so that the frogs can hide in it
so that someone can bury his face in it
and sob out his love
Make the day rise brightly
as if there were no more pain
And let my poem stand clear as a windowpane
bumped by a bumblebee's head
